Sumbawa 2008 is a rare vintage Indonesian oud oil from the island of Sumbawa, distilled in 2008 and carrying a character far removed from the familiar worlds of Hindi, Thai, and other Indonesian ouds.

This is not a warm, sweet, resin-heavy oil. Its beauty lies elsewhere: cool, green, earthy, and quietly incensy. On the skin, it opens with the feeling of fleeting, uplifting forest air, shaded roots, wild grasses, and mineral earth. There is a restrained floral nuance running through it, like small forest flowers hidden under dense Indonesian canopy.

As it settles, it reveals the depth of age without becoming heavy. The incense facet grows darker and more meditative, while the grassy-earthy core remains fresh, cool, and alive. Sweetness is extremely low, giving the oil a rare clarity and dryness. It feels clean and mature.

What makes this oil truly special is its individuality. It does not imitate the bold leather and fermented depth of Hindi oud, nor the rich sweetness often associated with Thai or Cambodian profiles, or the spicy, incense-heavy Indonesian ouds such as the ones from Kalimentan. It stands alone: vintage Indonesian oud with a cool forest spirit, austere elegance, and quiet natural complexity.

Worn alone, Sumbawa 2008 is contemplative and unusual, suited to those who seek oud beyond sweetness, warmth, and convention. It is a scent of shaded wilderness, old wood, incense mist, and earth after rain.
